Dr. Russell A. Barkley is Professor of Psychiatry at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center (VCUMC) in the United States, specializing in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, and Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology. He is one of the most specialized, relevant, and prolific current authors in the field of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). He has more than 300 publications on ADHD and related disorders, and is the author of assessment scales, clinical manuals, and approximately 25 books. He has spoken at more than 800 conferences in over 30 countries and has also participated on numerous occasions in well-known television programs in the United States. Dr. Barkley has served on several scientific journal editorial boards and since 1993 is the founding Editor of a clinical newsletter that has published the latest scientific information on ADHD, called The ADHD Report (Guilford). He has also been the President of the Section of Clinical Child Psychology, Division 12 (currently Division 53) of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the President of the International Society for Research in Child and Adolescent Psychopathology. This American professor has received several important awards throughout his career, most recently, the Distinguished Career Contribution Award from the Division of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (APA), the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Professional Society for ADHD and Related Disorders (APSARD), and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the CHADD (Children and Adults with ADHD).
